W Brent Vanderbrook is a founding member of Vanderbrook Chambaud. Brent is active in the Swiss marketplace assisting banks, trust companies, family offices and global families with U.S. tax planning and regulatory compliance.
Brent regularly advises families with U.S. connections on succession planning, U.S. tax planning and family governance issues. He has advised on the creation and use of dynasty trusts, private trust companies, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance trusts and foreign grantor trusts. He assists clients with inbound U.S. tax planning, U.S. expatriation and structuring U.S. investments. He also advises clients making voluntary disclosures with the Internal Revenue Service.
Brent advises European based financial institutions (including banks, trust companies, external asset managers and family offices) on compliance with U.S. regulatory and tax law, including advising on the establishment and operation of non-U.S. based registered investment advisers. He assists banks and trust companies on compliance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act ("FATCA")
Brent is founder and president of the Swiss American Investment Advisers Association, an industry group dedicated to assisting Swiss-based asset managers serving the U.S. market.
Brent previously practiced law at Baker & McKenzie in Zurich and Sherman & Howard L.L.C. in Denver. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado and the University of Denver.
